Multidisciplinary Teams
The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) is the foundation of the CAC model. The NCA Accreditation Standard requires centers to have a multidisciplinary response to child abuse allegations that includes representation from, at a minimum, law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical, mental health, victim advocacy, and the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Many states in the west have statutes that mandate protocols for the multidisciplinary investigation of child abuse and some include CACs as partners in that process. Below are examples of state guidelines for developing protocols.
